Bone study

I studied the anatomy of the hand for over an hour and a half today, coming up with different measurements and rules as well as relationships between different fingers, Tomorrow I will attempt muscle study in an attempt to be able to easily draw a hand from my mind.

A hand or two perhaps

I dove back into drawing today with two small sketches of hands, since I had not drawn in well over 10 days.

End of Past entries

This signifies the end of my filling this up with my past work. From this entry forward all entries will be on the day they are posted.

An eraser please

My left hand holding an eraser, nothing special.

Left hand or Right hand

I tried to see how my left hand could draw, even though I am right handed. I was quite surprised with the results, and from here on if my drawings show an R it means it was drawn with my right hand and if it shows an L it was drawn with my left. It's something I'll probably go back to later in life.

End of charcoal

I drew smoke again and added a toaster

A familiar face?

I drew this when I was just about stopping with charcoal, whipped it up real fast and am happy with it how it came out, despite its massive flaws.

A campfire and a stormy city

I drew a hand at first then I found out I could make smoke really well with charcoal on its side, so I drew a camp, then on the next page tried rain and perspective once again.

Mountains2

I tried another shot at my mountain landscape, drawing inspiration from Bogus Basin.

Charcoal 2

A hand and a tree, Tree came out terrible because I haven't draw trees in forever and ever, its something I plan to improve on eventually.

Charcoal

I had discovered three different colored charcoal in my room from early elementary school days and decided to put them to use in an hours time.

An island

an island I drew from scratch originally, but kinda evolved into the one from Lord of the Flies.

Inspiration

Inspiration struck me hard one day when I could almost feel the pieces falling into place, the key to drawing, the simplicity of it all, it was then I quickly drew several different pictures in less than 2 hours time.

Realistic finally?

After taking some pictures and studying them I decided it was time to draw with a reference this time, one that wasn't subject to my inability to see. At this point, I realized how ridiculously good the picture came out, that the issue with drawing isn't drawing itself, but seeing the drawing before and as you draw it.

Landscape failure

Since I am attempting to pour out everything regardless of its quality I present to you with my completely botched landscape - perspective drawing. I know what I did wrong so its just a matter of not doing it again.

A shoe for you

I attempted to draw my shoe that was laying on the ground

Strange eye

After repeatedly falling asleep while staring at a blank canvas I woke up to this image and drew it.

Perspective desert

A cliche desert I tried conjuring up and failed at. The perspective is off when it reaches the foreground, I had a cactus there and forgot to make it to perspective, ruining it.

Moon

I tried drawing the moon from a picture I found on NASA's website, the shadows are too strongly defined, the outline used on them was too much.

Tank you

I felt like drawing a tank, so I drew one, then added a nice bulldozer attachment.

Iclean

I drew the Iclean cleaning bottle

Mountains?

I had always been fascinated by landscapes, so I tried my own shot in this first landscape of mine, its an cliche idea I hope to go back to one day, with some improvement. This one is extremely distorted due to the page being lengthwise, which is my fault.

Perspective training

I had always had difficulty with perspective so I attempted to alleviate it with this unfinished train.

A wallet good sir?

I drew my wallet, somewhat unsuccessfully

Hand 2

I once again took my shot at hands with some slight improvement

Another doodle?

This can also probably be called a doodle since it has random markings of the curse of a blank canvas staring at me as different pictures drawn.

Another Twist

Same thing as with the ipod, except with a usb flash drive.

Pringles are not good for you

In this I learned a little about impatience. I had originally drawn the two pringles stacked ontop of each other, but as referenced by the upper left picture of redrawing it, noticed my fault when I neglected to measure out proportions and properly turn the figures into shapes before drawing. Oh well.

Just a key

Not much to explain here, I looked down and drew a key.

An experience in perspective

I once again went back to drawing things just normally, this was probably draw a couple hours after the Ipod transformation. Its just a sketch of my pencil sharpener on a book I had.

A twist on the ordinary

This was a picture I drew after consulting some educational forums, mostly critique. Someone had mentioned that when they first started doing drawing from life their instructor had them draw something, then draw it again and change it in someway. I attempted this with my Ipod Nano

A small deviant

This can be considered a doodle probably, considering its three different pictures in one, but the thumb was a small study I was doing to try and more closely draw it, and I recall struggling at the time with how was I going to add lines to something that doesn't have any?

Tres

My first hand sketch. Incredibly malformed, but I thought it was fantastic at the time, shortly after the external hard drive picture.

Dos

Nothing special, just an attempt at drawing my external hard drive that was sitting on my desk. I believe this was roughly 10 days after the previous drawing.

It begins

I'll start uploading images now, to catch up from when I started, I'll begin by uploading 55 image scans from my currently full three sketchbooks. I tried to omit anything that was just plain doodling but some slipped in due to other parts of the picture I wanted to post. I'm going to include each picture in its own post so they get archived separately so bear with me.

Some of these aren't dated so I'm just going to try to upload in the order I scanned them in, I started drawing around late February but didn't really get into it until middle March.

Here is the first picture I drew of my friend Zach in one of my classes, it shows my novice artistic skills, as I had not previously attempted drawing since 7th grade.
